As a coach, I see a lot of amateur and especially younger golfers focusing far too much on how their swing looks over how it functions. This is commonly referred to as playing “golf swing”. The reasons are many but the important concept is that better scores don’t come from “pretty” swings. They come from developing the skill to strike a golf ball consistently in changing conditions (i.e. center-face, ball-first, and on-line). Easier said then done but next practice section, be intentional about giving your body the sole objective of striking the ball well. Let your body and mind work together to figure out a movement pattern that produces repeatable results. By all means, adapt over time with video analysis, coaching, and technical changes, but always come back to the true key to better golf, solid ball-striking.
