Be the first you, not the next someone

While there are certain swing elements all great golfers do well (more on that in a different post), no two players swing or play exactly alike. Yet, I see a lot of amateur and especially younger golfers trying to copy a move, swing, or on-course philosophy of someone on TV. The Youtube rabbit hole similarly traps players into focusing on any number of drills, techniques, and strategies that may or may not fit their game. Remember, everyone’s body is built differently, they move differently, and we each have our own tendencies, preferences, strengths, and weaknesses. As you continue your journey with the game of golf, I encourage to make it yours. Lean into what resonates with you and avoid things that don’t. When you’re not constantly fighting unnatural movements and playing how you think you “should” play, you will experience a whole new level of confidence and joy on the course.
